Premium Organic "Green Spring Snail" Bi Luo Chun Green Tea

Regular price $14.00 Sale

A classic among Chinese green teas, Bi Luo Chun has been traditionally grown on Dongting Island in Lake Tahu, Jiangsu Province, where the tea was named "Green Spring Snail" by a 17th century emperor due to the tightly coiled shape of the finished tea. This particular source of Bi Luo Chun, however, is a garden in the Wuling Mountains of Western Human, 1200 feet above sea level, and the garden has now transitioned to fully organic growing methods.

This harvest is from the first flush of spring 2024, picked by hand to include a high ratio of single buds to pairs of bud and one leaf, and the product photos have been upgraded here to reflect the tippier composition of the current batch. The buds and leaves are quite small, owing to the smaller leaves of the varietal itself, and to its early spring picking. Its taste is nothing short of sublime, with fruity/floral notes predominating over a subtle umami base. Radiant and well-balanced, this is an excellent green tea.

We recommend brewing our Green Spring Snail Bi Luo Chun at around 175-180f for 1-3 minutes, depending on the amount of tea used, water, and the desired strength.
