Premium "Green Spring Snail" Bi Luo Chun Green Tea
A classic among Chinese Green teas, our premium Bi Luo Chun comes from Dongting Island in Lake Taihu, Jiangsu Province, where the tea was originally named "Green Spring Snail" by a 17th century emperor due to the tightly coiled shape of the finished tea.
This limited production harvest is from the first flush of spring 2019, picked by hand to the standard of one bud and one leaf. These buds and leaves are quite small, owing to the smaller leaves of the varietal itself, and its early spring harvesting. According to tradition, the tea bushes are grown interspersed with fruit trees of varying types, which helps give them a natural pest resistance as well as imparting some of their flavor into the tea itself. Its taste is nothing short of sublime, with fruity/floral notes predominating over a savory umami base. Radiant and well-balanced, this is an excellent green tea.
We recommend brewing our Green Spring Snail Bi Luo Chun at around 170-180f for 1-3 minutes, depending on the amount used and the desired strength.
